FOSTER PARENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Use this resource to track your training and stay compliant to renew your foster care license or care for youth with higher needs.

FOSTER PARENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Once you become a licensed foster parent, you need to complete 12 hours of continuing education (Renewal CEUs) each year to keep your license.

If you accept placement of a youth who requires a higher level of care, you must complete additional CEUs (High Level CEUs).

Renewal CEUs do not count towards High Level CEUs. High Level CEUs must be completed within 60 days of placement and each year thereafter that the youth is in your care. See the hour requirements below:

  • Tier 4 (Intensive+): 5 additional hours

  • Tier 5 (Specialized): 10 additional hours

  • SRE & LOA: MANDT, Medication Aide, CPR-First Aid, plus 10 additional hours

RENEWAL CEUs
You can use the following resources to obtain Renewal CEUs:

  • Apex led trainings and guest speakers - visit our Events Page to view and register for upcoming trainings

  • Other agency trainings (examples: Boys Town, Project Harmony). A certificate of completion must be provided.

  • Online trainings or webinar. A certificate of completion or valid learning summary must be provided.

  • Books, videos, therapy services, etc. A valid learning summary must be provided.

HIGH LEVEL CEUs
Upon placement, we’ll contact you with a curriculum to complete your trainings. For SRE and LOA requirements, we offer Medication Aide, MANDT, and CPR-First Aid training. Visit our Events Page to view and register for trainings.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR TRAINING CERTIFICATE FOR CREDIT

RENEWAL CEUs
You must email a copy of your completed certificate to licensing@apexfamily.org to receive credit for your training. The learning summaries will auto-send to the licensing team. Once this sheet is completed, scan and email a copy to the licensing department at the email address provided above.

HIGH LEVEL CEUs
You must email a copy of your completed certificate to Jenny@apexfamily.org to receive credit for your training.
